Did it show up right out of the blue, or is this radio a recent acquisition?

Dan,

I had my Astro Saber III also do that when I tried to program the radio in a freqeuncy band that was not supported by the radio after I had hex edited the Astro file.

Three reasons for FAIL001

1. Out of band hack that the rf deck cannot handle
2. Model number in codeplug is not in hte same band as model number of radio.
3. Bad rf deck.

This radio was used by an officer in the field and one day at power up it went into Fail001, I'll attemp a reprogram and see what happens.

What radios do you own?: Disney FRS

If it was working, then "just failed," it's most likely an RF deck problem...

If it were a programming problem, you would have seen it as soon as you were done programming it.

Found out that the radio was dropped, so I'm sure it's a bad RF deck.

Thanks All

As long as it's not a hacked radio (in which case you run a risk of never seeing it again), your best bet at this point may be to use the Flat Rate repair schedule with the Motorola Repair Depot. You will get a nice, new, perfectly tuned and 100% working radio back in a few days.
