As anyone who browses eBay knows, GTX radios are very affordable right now (typically $100-200). Many sellers list them as "Type I/II/IIi capable". However, I once had the opportunity to briefly see the GTX RSS, and I noticed that in Type II mode, the range of talkgroup IDs started with an "8", and talkgroups only appeared in decimal (not hex). Are the GTX's fully Type II capable? I don't want to buy one and get stuck with something that doesn't have the features I need.

They are indeed fully TypeII compatible. All TypeII talkgroup ID's begin with "80", in full decimal form. You are correct, you must enter them in decimal for this radio. I've seen a lot of these radios over the years, and all of them have been Type I/II/IIi compatible.
