R II Astro Spectra Astro tx below 146 MHz

Post by JohnG »

Has anybody had any luck getting a range II VHF (146-174) Astro Spectra or Astro Spectra Plus to transmit in Astro mode below 146 MHz? Using the info on this web site, I was able to get PL tx to work below 146 MHz without any trouble. Astro RX below 146 MHz also works fine. When I attempted to transmit in Astro mode between 144 and 146, I found the deviation to be either too low (Astro Spectra) or zero deviation (Astro Spectra Plus). Each radio was tuned properly, but it appears that the correct deviation tuning parameters aren't used by the DSP below 146 MHz.

If you are operating below 146 MHz on a range 2 unit there ARE no proper deviation parameters to be used. The ASTRO Spectra Plus is more intelligent in not transmitting out of band at all.

It definately does transmit out of band. It actually does just fine with an analog PL signal. It just doesn't transmit with proper deviation in Astro mode.
