HT1250 Quick-call Scanning

Post by Chad427 »

Can anyone tell us if it is possible to have a scan list that uses only channels with quick-call decoding. Have scan list set up this way but quick-call will not decode. Any thoughts? Any assistance is greatly apprecaited.

Thanks

How many scan list members, and how many QCII calls? As a rule of thumb, I discourage scanning for quick calls because of the chance of missing a call. And that just multiplies with more calls.

I have had good luck with decoding when it is on the Priority #1 channel, but this channel is "open" but has pl squelch.

I found the most it could reliably take is 4 in a zone by itself and not use any priority on scan as this takes time away from the other ch's for look back times. I do this for my ch and 3 other counties I give mutual aid to. Since all counties set off the quick call II tones twice back to back it very seldom misses a call.
Every living thing including roaches are running out the fire, we're running in the fire. It's hard to explain. Are roaches smarter than we are?

I had a similar problem in UHF using 2 tone paging on phone systems. I had multiple QCs set up for various phone channels to ring out when called from the land line. Each channel would work perfect if I was on that channel but not when in scan, except the one that was Priority. I even put one in Priority 2 and it still would not work. I called Motorola and the guy told me that that was normal operation and only 1 channel would alert in scan and it had to be the priority channel. That was back during firmware R03.01.00 so don't know if a flash upgrade would work or not.
Hope this helps.
