Siren & Astro Spectra

Post by ssybert »

Anyone know why WAIL comes up on my Astro Spectra every time I turn the radio on? The siren is attached but no siren tones are programmed to any buttons... only Airhorn, EXrd and PA. Wondering why it always display's a siren tone name on startup? I wasn't able to find anything in the CPS to explain this.

Thanks, Scott.

What happens is that's the last mode the siren was left in.

If you JUST program the radio, it'll usually come up and say "WAIL." If you were to tap your SIREN button (which you NEED to have in order to have the Ext Rad option enabled (you can have a button assigned to this, but it won't work unless you hit siren first) you should get a wail out of the speaker.

Naturally, this isn't your goal. If you were to tap the EXT RAD button on your control head, you'd see EXT RADIO pop up on the display. Turn the vehicle off, and back on again. It should come up and say EXT RADIO. If it doesn't, check to ensure your orenge and green wires are hooked up properly.

This is a good secret way to keep "wail" handy, and in the case of EVER being stopped, tap ext radio, and it'll NEVER go back into wail until you reprogram the radio (or unless the afore mentioned wires weren't hooked up right.)

if you program EX-RAD B you can enable it without turning the siren itself on as well.
