I figure Will or Perthcom may be able to set me straight on this. I am setting up a 3 channel UHF LTR system, using Trident Marauders, with one MTR2000 & 2 MSR2000s. The portables are HT1250ls. The interfacing & programming seemed easy enough, the system works great, with one small exception. I originally programmed all talkgroups to be phone interconnect capable, with repeater #1 designated as the interconnect repeater in the RSS. This resulted in the radios only being able to access repeater#1, in a regular dispatch call. Any time it was busy, the other 2 repeaters were inaccessible. It seems the radios do not want to access a non-interconnect repeater if the talkgroup has been set as interconnect capable, even for a regular dispatch call. Once all 3 repeaters were set to interconnect capable in the radio's programming, all 3 repeaters could be accessed. I cannot have it that way, as there is only going to be a phone line for repeater#1, not on all of them. I have spoken with Trident, who confirm it shouldn't be acting this way. They blame the portables, and advised me to get a hold of Motorola on the issue. With it being the weekend & all, I'm sure to get no help from them, and am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Thanks for reading!

That sounds like it should work and the other radios would not hear the telco consversation in normal operation (mode).

Problem is, the customer is fully expecting to have interconnect capability on any talkgroup...something the system should be able to do, according to the literature & Trident. The radios shouldn't care about interconnect unless you choose the "phone mode" button. It's puzzling...I'll be working on it this weekend to see what I can do. I was hoping somebody had seen this before, I just LOVE breaking new ground.

Hi
I have to admit I haven't tried the phone interconnect on the HT1250LS.
Sounds like another firmware update is in the brewing..lol

Thanks for the responses so far. Here's an update for anyone who may be interested. Turns out you have to specify in the Marauder whether a specific talkgroup is dispatch only capable, or interconnect only capable, it can't be both. So, I couldn't have every talkgroup in the radio be interconnect capable anyway, I wouldn't be able to do regular dispatch calls then! I took Nand's suggestion & created a single interconnect talkgroup. There is a feature called "interconnect revert" which will cause the radio to jump to that talkgroup whenever the "phone mode" button is pressed. That takes care of the radio-initiated phone calls from any talkgroup problem. For incoming calls, I enabled "system scan", with just the interconnect talkgroup in the scan list, so I can receive an incoming phone call on any talkgroup with the scan list enabled.

I now have another problem I've been banging my head over...the MDC PTT-ID isn't working! It doesn't matter whether I set it for pre, or post, or both. I have set up the signalling system & enabled on tx & rx in all personalities, but the radio doesn't even send it out. Anybody seen that before? I'll give more details if anyone's interested in helping out, and the codeplug's available for e-mailing, but right now I have to get my kid ready for hockey! Thanks for reading...

Strange, the PTT-ID should be working. I'd be willing to take a look if you would like.

Hi Todd
Your problem with MDC has caused me grief too..
In the LS Trunking, Personality.. goto Group Options and check SigEnable for each personality that you wish to use signalling.

Thank you Bruce! I saw that box, hadn't even had time to try it today, but it'll be that much quicker tomorrow because of you. Once that's working, everything's pretty much ready to roll (fingers crossed). They sure do make these HT1250-LS radios complicated! WAAAYYY more to them than the P1225-LS. Thanks again. Codeplug will still be available once completed for anyone who wants a good working template to start with.
