Can MDC1200 codes "activate" repeater
Moderator: Queue Moderator
We use a repeater system in our department but have "problems" with non-authorized people getting access to our freq and using repeater. We are switching to MDC1200 to use for decoding ID's, etc. Is there also a way to modify a MDC1200 board or something on the repeater that it must "see" a specified "group/fleet" or other on key-up MDC1200 that will "open up" the repeater. If it doesn't see this specific group or fleet, the repeater will not key-up. THANKS
I suppose you could do that. Motorola also sells a decoder that uses MDC repeater access tones to control repeater access. It works well, but requires user training since you have to wait for the decode before EVERY transmission. If you tag a PTT-ID onto the RAT, you have to wait a good second before you will pass any voice.

Check out this site... http://www.enteract.com/~toddm/STROKE/index.html However, if you poke around the site, their primary machine is in Schaumburg... probably not coincidence.
