Need help identifying a Government Saber

I was recently handed a VHF Saber (by the local police, who found it), 12 channels, no display.. the programming in it points toward the military, US Air Force specifically.

They've checked it in their system, and it has not been reported missing or stolen, and there is only 1 AFB around that claims they are not missing any radios.

Is there anyone at Motorola I could contact to give the serial number to, that could perhaps tell me whose it is?

try reading the info in the radio via the RSS. it should give you the serial number and maybe the owner info..goodluck

I did that first, and all I have are the frequencies. I've tried to cross reference them with several sources and have had no luck. Thanks!

what freq's are they shouldnt be that hard to narrow down the agency.

we can always have the NSA contact you.

especially if it says fascinator on it.

and it could have been someones personal radio

Ch. 1 173.5625 No PL
Ch. 2 165.1375 136.5
Ch. 3 155.340 123.0

I know that these are Air Force freqs, and that the 3rd is a hospital enroute calling channel around here (Philadelphia), but I haven't been able to find a list for a base that has all 3 in use, or even the first 2.

The info tag on the back lists a Model #, a Factory ID, the serial #, and then a USGEID number... is this a "US Government" something, or am I reading too much into that?

you could also contact the airport in your area since the AFSP are the ones working the airports mostly

I did a google search on USGEID, and it seems that it stands for U S Government Equipment ID.. However, it also seems that it is more of a type ID, rather than a tracking number.

According to Fordyce, one use for 173.5625 is Dover AFB Medical Net, which makes sense given the 155.340 in 3. 165.1375 is a Coast Guard "Lant" frequency, but appears to be fairly widely used by DoD for other purposes (base security, etc.) as well.

If Dover AFB is not the base you already checked with, I'd try them, then McGuire and NAS/JRB Willow Grove, which has a large Air Force Reserve tenant.
