I'm no Saber expert, what I'd like to know is, does my radio have a "bypass module" or is the encryption module in place. Along the bottom of the chassis where I beleive the module should be, there is a module with p/n NTN 4720A, and stamped 5876q01. What is it?

HI:

The 4720 is nothing more than a by-Pass
Module with a wire inside.

Does the same thing as:

Thanks for the reply Monty. I'll be looking at Dayton for a pair of modules. I have access to a keyloader when needed. How much $ might I expect to pay? Any idea?

HI:

Here on the Batlab Site is a wealth
of information on Encryption...Just go
to the main menu.

As far as Keyloaders and Encryption is concerned, don't be dissapointed as the
Audio in the Encrypted DES form is not all
that great. Also, if you remove the battery
you will loose the Encrypt Key...That is for
security reasons.

Anyhow, I have seen Keyloaders sell for as low as 25.00-50.00 ( which I consider a steal ), and average aound 125.00-200.00 depending on condition for 3020 Series, and
150.00 and Up for 3011 Series. I have seen
them sell for 100.00 and I have seen them
for 500.00, so it depends largely on Condition, and if they are working.

The DES-XL Series and later Model keyloaders
are the most popular, and always has a heafty
price associated with them

Personally, I use the By-pass module.
