has anyone had the I530 and had problems with it?
we are in the st louis area and of the 5 phones 2 of them are not doing so well. it seems that they keep showing no service when the are in what would be good spots. I realize that they are just little radios and bear that in mind.... but some of the places that we are having difficulty are excellent area for radios to work, geographically speaking.
to summarize are there any known problems with this phone or its "firmware"?
thanks for listening any help would be greatly appreciated

- What radios do you own?: APX6000, XTS5000, Astro Saber
Take them to ANY nextel store and ask them to NSP the phones... they should know what you mean.
It should cost you $0-$35. Keep doing it till you get them all to the point where the service is pretty equal between the phones in the same area's.
This was a problem with the i730's for a while...one would have service, the other wouldn't.
Only way to fix this is to NSP'em.

National Service Program.
Gets you a "new to you" yet refurbished phone.
If it's w/in 30 days - go yell at the dealer for which you purchased it from.

IIRC -- You have Boost, and not actual Nextel, unless something's changed I'm not aware of...
With that being the case, you can't use IMEI numbers with boost - they are SIM based only.
IN THEORY - you could use an IMEI number, and their system will probably take it, but the customer service drones probably won't do it for you.
Boost is almost more expensive if you JUST want direct connect. If your using it once per day, I think with what they are charging now, it's about $45/month. You can get cheaper unlimited dc plans with no minutes I think - maybe around the $30/month mark - and THEN you could activate your i600. If you want to go that route, take advantage of the fact that you can buy a new phone at a promotional price - and resell it on ebay after activating and performing a SIM->IMEI swap. (1-800-866-6111) should be able to help you with that.
