A friend is watching some jedi stuff on auctions and the like.

Is an MTX-838 strictly an 800 Mhz radio? The model number on one he is interested in is an H01 (actually h01rdc9db3an). Shouldn't it be a UHF rig?

Haven't seen any of these before, so just curious.

Thanks,
Jay

H01R

R is 438-482 Mhz by the model number chart.

Print one off from the batlabs "model number decoding" page. Look for the link to portables built after '92, near the bottom of the page. I always keep this handy when I'm surfing e-bay.

'R' is 403-470 There had been some VHF MTX838's on EBay- export radio without FCC
approval, also Motorola depot will not repair. Might be a software concern also.

No concerns with RSS for the MTX-838. It's the Canadian (possibly other countries as well) version of the MTX-8000 and it programs with the regular MTSX RSS. They can come in VHF/UHF/800MHz.
