System 9000 VRS ?
Moderator: Queue Moderator
I have purchased a Motorola System 9000 VRS. Model # T04KEA3006BASP02. It was MFG in DEC. 1995. I am new to the VRS thing. I was told that the radio uses an Expo guts. I have taken the transmitter (HLE9019C) out of the unit and looked for crystals so I can determine what frequency it uses or reprogram it. I cannot find any removable crystals or crystal sockets? How is this unit programmed? Is it programmed via the Spectra RSS. I have noticed an 8 DIP type switch on the audio board (HLN9796A). What are the DIP switchs used for? Any info would be appreciated. You can contact me via email at [email protected]. Thanks
Your VRS uses a RNet-SLM radio. The HLE9019C chassis number is for a 450-470 MHz split RNet radio. The manuals are currently sold by Motorola. The manuals and retail prices are listed on this web site:

It is crystal controlled and I think you will have to unsolder them to change them.
The DIP switches are documented in the RNet-SLM manual and are used to select the flat vs. emphasized audio paths and such. The crystal frequency formulas are also covered in the manual.
