Dual Ctrl Head on Single Head radio?

I have set up a "single" A7 head remote mount spectra 800 with an A/B computer switch box, and a second A7 head. This appears to work fine. I would like to try a diffrent version of this, one control head, to a 800 and VHF unit. Has any one else tried this, and what was your experance with it
