We are beginning to use MDC1200 on our system and it's working great except for 1 problem. We use lowband radios (mostly Maxtracs) with a R.I.C.K. Repeater. We have the MDC1200 in our UHF portables (which each portable sends out a unique code to identify which portable to receiving units). We also have the MDC on the lowband mobiles for identifcation with its own unique coding. The MDC is at the beginning of PTT. The problem is that when a portable begins to TX it sends the burst and portable number out AND the lowband does too at same time. Is there way to make a modification to keep the mobile from only Tx its own coding only when the mic is used. THANKS

We use a similar set up and I am sorry to say that there is no way to prevent the mobile from transmitting the MDC when you are using the portable if the channel is programmed to have signaling options.

We solved our problem by programming our mobiles to send MDC at the end of the transmission (Post ID) and our portables to send MDC & RAT on key up (Pre ID). The down side is two bursts of MDC, the up side is the dispatch center knows which portable is transmitting through which mobile.
