Astro Saber III Programming
i have just bought a new astro saber III UHF 450-527mhz radio from shahen and paid alot of extra money to have it programmed for me with 65 channels that i wanted, but he delivers the radio with the wrong bloody frequencies in it, it will not RX
is there anyone out there that will program my astro saber III for me for a reasonable price, only 65 channels.
please include your price.
i will post the specs on the radio a little later this morning.
a programmer in australia would be better, but if i have to, i will send it overseas.
please, there must be one of you guys out there that can help me out.
Regards,

Please Tell us that you didn't have to pay any extra for the radio aside from the 250 programming fee you mentioned ?
Do you mean that you paid 250 AUS for the radio and programming or that you also had to pay big bucks for the radio and then you got bent over and had to spend another 250 to have it programmed ?

Sorry I didn't intend to be mean to you, it just makes me mad that someone would take advantage with something that takes 30 to 45 minutes to do. 60 or so channels does not take a lot of time to program up and 175 U.S. is nuts. It is similar to the Greed-Bay sellers who add a 30 dollar handling charge to an item and it still takes a week to arrive at the buyers address. I hope you gave him a bad mark.

I just re-did my AS3 last week. Re-named zones, added/replaced some new/dead channels and added all the 15khz spaced VHF Ham simplex channels (in 2 zones).
Total of 112 channels *from scratch* took about 1h 20m and I was sitting on the tailgate (getting a tan and eating lunch) of my Explorer with the laptop while waiting for my other half at a meeting.
$175 is outrageous. I'd do it for a 12 pack if you were local

Do not make Sig angry...he'll just keep ringing the bell.

ASIII Programming
Gad!! That is more than I charge. I give two zones away free with purchase of one of my radios. Extra or outside programming is a $ 25 setup fee with $.75-2.00 a channel, depending on how complex you want to go..scan list, MDC, ect...The setup fee is to fend off those who just want 2 or 3 channels of programming. I will also discount depending on repeat service or number of radios programed.

Unfortunately, unless you got yourself the software, RIB and cable, you might be out of luck. The AS3 was never sold to the public in Australia, and only a very small handful exist here in private hands. As the public AS users (AFP in Canberra, defence forces, Vic police, NSW police) do all their own radio work, finding a shop that will program it for you will be equally difficult.
Sorry mate.
