vocoder price question

Post by JOHN 1807 »

Hi, I have a question regarding price vs. value: I have the opportunity to buy a vocoder board for AS- flash is 100001-000000-7 (digital/conventional operations) DSP 08.02.06 Firmware 07.12.00 Seller is asking 180.00 he has several of these available. I`m new to flashport/digital these are supposedly new boards. is this a reasonable price for the options? after reading rOf`s primer it seems like these are fairly new (firmware/host) any input is appreciated, thanks- John

Your BIGGEST factor is missing from your post. There should be a letter before the DSP. (I, N, A, M) It needs to be an I or an N. If it's the other 2, then you'd have to get a firmware upgrade before digital will work.

I know, but you say "The flash has IMBE in it." Correct, if you jam a codeplug with IMBE into the radio, it will take it... but if the DSP won't support it... it won't.

Consider the flashcode as a "label." The firmware revision MUST be able to support the option in order for it to work. Example: 9600 Baud trunking... only works in 1meg vocoders, but can't you jam it in a 512k? Sure! Why the hell not! It still won't work even though the flash says it will...

Things (info) you should always get before buying an astro product:
Model Number
Flashcode
Host Firmware
DSP Version (including the letter)
Serial number optional for theft / stolen radios.

That way, people can help with questions more effectively...

With that being said:
$180 for new vocoders is a good deal if they have the DSP firmware digital capable. (I or N) Otherwise, I saw a pair go for $260ish on eBay.

It won't be marked on the board. It has to be powered up to be read. Either put it in test mode for a model 2 or 3, or it must be read by RSS for a model 1.

I thought I remember someone telling me that 99% of the time if the Flashcode ends in an odd number than it is VSLEP. I don't rember how long ago it was but it was definitely on here. Better be sure or your stuck with a glorified nextel.

I`m not sure but I thought I remember in r0f`s primer it said something about a DSP lower than R04.xx.xx was VSELP and above was IMBE but I`m going to have to read it again. _ John

Hey r0f sorry you got burned again-(yes I recall locker incident ) These boards are probably from the same guy. Just to make sure we`re on the same page here- He originally sold under the name "nightowl1000" or something like that, now these same boards are selling by someone named "mrfasinator" . everything in the ebay add looks identical. But in my case I contacted the winner from a couple weeks ago "noggynog" who replied back to me as "motorolajunky" So it sounds like different people- SAME vocons? - J

I got F'ed my Vinson Chan nightowl000 on fleabay. I got 2 vocons off of him and he said they worked perfect. Well 1 has low audio and the other just blows fused on the RF board. Here is the link to the auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3092539313

I checked his feedback rating and thought hey this guy looks good. 100% postive feeback rating.. Well since I can be a dumbs)(*& I did not notice that most of the feedbacks came from the same people. r0f told me that his buddies bid on his auctions just to boost up his feedback. Becarefull he is a total scam..... now I am out almost 200 bucks and he wont return my emails.....

Isn't it against the rules for friends to bid up auctions for other friends?

Oh wait I forgot.... This is ebay we're talking about.

Well, his feedback has dropped to 98% so I suppose that's something.

And his buddy "noggynog" needs a good ass-wuppin!

yeah I agree, his rating went down after I gave him negative feedback... Anyway Mr Vinson Chan wrote back and highlighted AS-IS in red. Here is a copy of the email I wrote him.

Dear Mr Chan

Notice the bottom of the auction? Email questions to you! I asked you if it worked and you said yes no problem.. You can hide behind your AS-IS crap. You do know what your selling and you knew this vocon had something wrong with it when you posted it. Plus you had shill bidded the item so it would go higher!. If I would have seen the post in batlabs before I bid I most certainly would not have bid on it. Plus I see you have your feedback racked up by your buddies that shill bid. That has been pointed out to ebay as well. You know exactly what your doing and what your selling. When I list an item on ebay and it has a problem I mention it. I sold an radio on ebay that was listed as FOR PARTS ONLY RADIO DOES NOT POWER UP. That states that the item is not working. I do not hide behind as is crap that I know for sure is not working. There are many complaints about you on the batboard forum in batlabs. That is why I am upset with you because I found out you sell junk to people and make false statements like to did to me in the email… I am still persuing this matter with the above mentioned….. Greg
