Just a few questions about this fine radio (brick) here.
1. I'd like to use a "slimmer" battery if possible (Currently using the 8294BR) Can I use the Li-on and what charger would be compatable with it? Would it in fact be lighter weight? Any other suggestions?
2. This radio seems to have a very tinny sound to it. It that indicative of this radio? It seems to have this sound more-so coming from dispatch that from other portables. Would a PSM sound much different?
We're getting ready to switch to this model for the department and so far I'm really not impressed.

Hi Ron,
1) Yes, the Li Ion battery is slightly thinner and less weight. You will need a tri-chem charger (a charger capable of charging Li ion).
2) There are settings in the CPS for adjusting the treble in analog, digital, or secure mode. If there is too much treble try adjusting it down a bit.
They are in the radio wide/rx audio tab. You can also try it with midrange equalization checked or unchecked.
