Astro saber 3 programing

I have an Astro saber 3 UHF 450-512 mhz I'm using astro rss 9.5 I read the radio codeplug added some new pers-channels and when I press F8 to send to radio everything stays the same. Do I have to flash the radio? and what is Flashing for? and what am I doing wrong? I have programed saber 3's and the software for astro's is different but it seems managable to go through it but for some reason the radio is not taking the new frequencies. any advice would be appreciated. Are you adding the new channels you have entered to a zone before programming the radio? It sounds like you haven't added them to a zone and therefore are not visible to use.
