Scan list problem with Astro Saber

Post by Heterodyne »

Got a bit of a problem with scanlists...

When I change zones on my Astro Saber, the scanlist doesn't change to reflect the new zone.

I change from the EMS to Ham zone, the radio still scans the EMS scanlist instead of the ham scanlist. Turning scan off and back on, even rebooting the radio and disconnecting the battery doesn't work. The only thing that does it is letting the radio sit with the power off for about 20 mins.

Any thoughts? I don't use the scan too often on it, but I do use it.

I've got that programming computer with me, so I'll take a look around and see what sticks out....

Have you made any programing changes to the radio latley? I had a similar problem with my radio once, i had a personality from 1 zone's scanlist refrenced in 2 zones(error). when i caught it i removed the double refrence and it worked ok.
your problem seems diffrent the way you describe it being ok after 20 min with no power, it may be worth looking into

take care

No, I haven't touched it since it was first programmed.

The problem is definitley intermittant, though. When I get my hands on an Astro Saber programming cable again in a few weeks I'll have a look at it, but yeah - it's definitley a curious problem.

I'm wondering if its perhaps a firmware issue, the same problem that prevents me from seeing aliases from other radios (I see the radio ID number on the display instead of the alias I have programmed for that ID.... 3000 instead of JOE'S RADIO)

No, mine won't alias in either conventional or Astro..... I've got the soft IDs in, and am able to page other radios with them but all I see are the numbers.

The AS3 will not show any aliases. The exception being if a radio is transmitting a soft ID in Astro. Other than that, all numbers.

I see they got the alias fixed finally with a firmware upgrade. I would like to have alias too. How much does it cost to have the firmware jacked up to the latest?

last time i inquired it was $270.00 usd to flat rate an astro saber at the depot. If it was me i would wait till somthing really goes wrong with it and send it in. I sent mine in about a year ago and if i had to add up the cost of the parts to buy would prob be close to a grand (at their prices). As long as the malfunction wasnt from water or abuse the depot will practically rebuild it. The only down side was it came back with a plain "h35" flash!!! but a few nasty calls and a trip back got back my smartzone and astro digital.
