all of my VHF, 800 and UHF XTS5K work fine with the 3011dx or the 3000 plus KVL's.

Are you loading a traffic key or a shadow key ? If a shadow key then your radio better have otar in it and the radios flashcode better start with 1A to ensure that it truely does have otar in it. If you can't load a single traffic key with the 3011DX kvl and the TDN9390D KVL cable then you have another problem.

Software settings. I've KVL'd 5000's numerous times with a T3011DX. Go over your software settings please.

Search for this:

"KVL AND Problem"

I already see lots of useful information. The search feature is very helpful considering the amount of posts this forum has archived dealing with the very same issues.

There are two methods that are used in the radios and KVLs for storing keys. One is called CKR (common key reference) mode and the other is called PID (physical ID) mode. CKR mode is newer and is required for APCO OTAR. A KVL3K optioned correctly can do either CKR or PID (ASN) mode. The DX KVL can only do PID mode.

Make sure your radio RSS/CPS has CKR mode turned off and that you are using PID mode in your encryption options settings. This should allow operation with your DX KVL.
