w3 installation question

Post by batdude »

i am delving into some new territory here.

based on my mounting position needed for my VHF and UHF W3, i will not need the Y cable since the radios will be mounted essentially directly under the mounting location for the mic.

does anyone know if the W3 will work with a standard spectra grey accessory connector (for ignition sense and speaker audio) plugged in to the rear of the unit and the mic plugged directly into the front of the radio?

in other words, will the above work WITHOUT the Y cable... ?

Yes they work fine without it provided you have the accessory cable in the back of the radio.

They also work fine using a standard computer serial cable with the accessory cable in the radio. This not only saves money but is easier to install in some vehicles or situations where the length of the 'Y' cable is an issue.
