Help with XTVA/HHCH display problem

Post by Logitec »

I have a XTVA and HHCH that I’ve been using fine for about a month. They were both brand new when I got them. I use them with my UHF XTS 3000. Now after the weekend I have a new glitch. The only thing that happened over the weekend was that I accidentally left the radio on over night and ran the (radio) battery down. I did that once before and I wouldn’t think that that would cause something to break.

The problem now is that the display on the HHCH blinks off for a second intermittently. It does it (not always, but most of the time) when something on the display changes. So when the display needs to be updated, like when changing channels or when scanning, the display goes blank for a second, then comes back. If nothing on the display needs to be updated, it stays on just fine. Other than that, things are working fine.

For troubleshooting, I’ve tried this: I tried a different radio (a VHF XTS 5000) and the same thing happens. I unplugged everything (power, speaker, HHCH) from the XTVA and plugged everything back in, to check for a poor connection. I’ve lightly hit the HHCH to see if that would cause it and it doesn’t.

It looks like a problem with the HHCH and it looks like a logical type of problem, as opposed to a physical connection issue. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is this a known problem? I can’t try another HHCH, because I don’t have one right now. Everything is still usable, it’s just a new annoying problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
