In order to program the 2500/5000, you need to buy the appropriate CPS. It is a different piece of software than what's used for the 3000's.

PLEASE DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS...it looks bad, and appears to us that you are yelling!

The Astro Saber/XTS3000/Astro Specta CPS is a different program than the XTS5000. You will need spearate CPS to program the XTS5000. Perhaps someone can list the different part numbers for you...?

And don't forget the 2500/5000 radios use a different programming cable (ribless USB or serial).

So new CPS AND new programming cable = $$$

You need RVN4186 software for the XTS5000 also called 'astro 25 cps & tuner'. Consists of RVN4181 (Astro 25 PORTABLE cps WITH tUNER) for portables and RVN4185 (aSTRO 25 mOBILE cps WITH tUNER) for THE mobile. I think it's up to version M or N now.

For the so called ribless cable it is part number RKN4106A, the cable is a basic RS- 232 type of chip, so it's not truely a bibless cable and only worth several bucks at the most.

it is ribless in that it does not require an external rib box.

Done, ordered and programmed. I bought the Astro 25 Portable software and the RS232 cable. The radio is programmed and I am happy.
