Quick Call II and system saber HT

Post by radioactive69 »

I have not been able to get the SysSaber to decode QCII like the RSS says it can. I have roamed throught all the programing pages and enabled or filled in the QCII info but it still won't alert after the tones are received.

Maybe I am missing something like turning on another function like MDC. If the RSS screens show all the QCII options and the RSS downloads the data file without a warning... isn't the decoder installed?

Come now, there has got to be a few system saber users out there. Some got the option enabled and working? We can converse by PM.

Make sure that the personality has QCII set. When you are in the RSS personality screen, it is a function key that brings you to the screen (I think). I have a Systems Saber III setup to unmute the audio for PL or QCII on one personality and it works good. My only complaint is that the alert tone is only two beeps unlike my mt1000 and Minitor II which beep continuosly for the length of the B tone. I have a CON 6 by the way.

What radios do you own?: XTS 5000 to Mocom

Like kc2dla said,

Go to the channel in which you want the radio to decode, and there should be some option to enable it. You have to do it on a channel by channel basis.

It is enabled on the needed channel and it is enabled under F3 (QCII details) under the Conventional Menu screen with the A-B format and OR (unmuted) so I can hear all the verbal dispatch traffic.

But it still will not alert upon the proper A-B tone.

I compaired the QCII programing with that of our EX500's and it matches. So what gives?

Any other ideas... please.

What radios do you own?: too many

Doug,

I had this problem awhile back with my System Saber III. What I found was the paging tones sent by the dispatch center were not long enough in duration to activate the radio's decoder. Even though it wouldn't page, I left the paging information in the radio and continued to use it.

A few months went by the they increased the length of both the A and B tones and the radio alerted perfectly.

If you have a method to page it (service monitor / code synthesizer) try setting the duration a little longer and see if this corrects this.

Hope this helps,

I wish my service monitor (CE50) had that option. I am unable to test it that route. When I get a chance with a friend at the radio shop, I will fire his generator up and try it out.

It just seems that the HT should work given all our pagers are M minitor 2 and 3 and even our EX500's work just fine.

If any one else has an idea please keep them coming.

Doug,

Until my department changed the durations of both tones, my System Saber would fail everytime. As I mentioned earlier, try making them longer in duration and see what happens. If this doesn't work let me know so we can try something else.
