Uniden Announces NEW BCD-896T P25 Small HH Scanner

Post by ASTROMODAT »

It's supposed to handle 9600.

Only when it is released will we know if its IMBE audio quality is as good as the awesome sounding PRO-96.

Now if these scanner manufacturers would make one that would handle a SmartZone system correctly. What I mean, allow the user to input 32 control channels, let the receiver do a site scan by RSSI levels with changing sites automatically and have site aliases. That would be sweet.

Most of the Uniden scanners will do control channel-only scanning, if that's what you mean.

Beyond that I imagine there might be some IP issues with /\/\.

They're already paying another company a substantial licence fee for the IMBE decoder.

True SmartZone function requires that the radio affiliate. Obviously, scanners cannot affiliate.

Decodes the pager tone sent by dispatch and opens up the squelch.

What I meant was they should design a scanner which would allow an user to input up to 32 CC members with site aliases and automatically change sites when the RSSI hits a threshold level. While a true SZ radio needs to affaliate with the site so the site knows what the talkgroup the radio is monitoring, this would not necessarily be the case in scanner because the scanners scan list is larger than the standard 10 member trunk list in a Motorola radio. (Yes I know you should not scan in a SZ environment) Now if Uniden or GRE would offer such a beast it would be sweat...
