GM950 / GM350 - What's the Difference?

Post by train_radio_guy »

Hey Guys,

I'm considering purchasing a couple of GM950's for a repeater project. I was wondering - what's the difference between a GM950 & a GM350? They both seem to have the same spec's. Just curious.

GM950 has got Select 5

GM350 has only simple tones, which you can use for 'beep' on ptt key / dekey

Four channel radios looks the same, but
128ch versions of GM350 and GM950 has diffrent signs on the keypad.

They have diffrent RSS. Programming cable is the same for them.

Both radios were produced in versions:
4ch or 128ch (with display),
12,5 or 25kHz,
Midband / VHF / 300MHz / UHF

These radios are very popular in Eastern Europe.
Motorola stopped the production 2-3 years ago

GM950 / GM350 Info

Post by train_radio_guy »

Thanks for the GM950 info. It would probably be a good idea to find a service manual & operator's manual for the GM950, if I expect to use some of those features. I've found a few dealers who claim to still have a 'package' with the manuals & technical stuff, but they want around $ 250 US for the entire thing. It seems rather pricey, but they might be the only game in town. I’m open to alternative suggestions, should anyone have some.
