TXinhibit on Astro's

Post by Hightower »

The radios menu list can contain TXinhibit. The Astro RSSmanual states TXinhibit is for mobiles only. Mobiles only?? Can't be, because I can add that feature, but when activated, it Inhibits the TX in the WHOLE zone, not each individual channel like I would like it to do.
My question is, is there any way to program the Astro in the RSS to TX on a specific channel, then via the radios menu disable that channel for TX.

My quess is that the RSS manual is wrong when they say mobiles can only be programmed for TXinhibit. RSS manual in question is from extreme early 1999's, but there is no part number for the RSS manual, just the software part number RVN-4100

Thanks batfolks!

No, you can't xmit inhibit a specific channel with an XTS. It's global or nothing.

Same with the Sabers. Comes in handy when you leave the radios in your vehicle and they "Walk off" or if people like to try to play with them...

bETTER for me is having the password lock on it, I feel good knowing that if some moron walks off with my radio, they have two options, well,,,,maybe 3..
1) Trial & error for my four digit passocde with 5 digit entry option!@
2) Remove the P/W with RSS, IF they have the newest!
3) Smash the thing after becoming pissed off!

You can pry my astro out of my cold dead hands!!!

Just my two cents...

Anyone else out there have any opinions on possible radio theft and solutions, etc...?

Thanks

This one got me for a while too.

Enable the radio lock in the rss this will NOT let you enter the password if the radio is enabled for secure.

make sure that you have the password menu item enabled.

turn the radio on and "radio locked" will come up. in this order press 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 then the top button (above the PTT) your radio should now unlock then change the password via the menu. remember you must press the top button to enter the password every time.

another note the password is stored in the secure module.

Good luck Shaun.

Shaun,

This topic killed me for months. In the owners manual it covers it but not giving you the steps.

Good luck and remember the module keeps the key and password.
