Does the red XMIT light come on, but no TX?

Is the green wire connected to the SAME voltage source point as the large red power wire? If not, the MaraTrac is famous for letting you know it doesn't like ANY voltage difference between the two, and it especially doesn't like noise on the green wire that comes from connecting it to anything in the vehicle's accessory (fuse panel) harness. Motorola is anal about the subject in their installation instructions.

What is the actual voltage available to the radio? MaraTracs don't like low voltages at all.

How good is the ground point?
curmudgeon.....and I like it.

wx4cbh is correct the Green lead, receiver and exciter supply voltage, HAS TO go DIRECT to the exact same spot the big Red lead does. This must be connected to the + terminal on the battery.

The problem is a voltage difference on the Green lead causes the TX power control circuit to shut down the TX.

I had a VHF-HI Maratrac that would always turn on the xmit indicator but not always transmit. Turned out to be a bad antenna relay......
Aww screw it. I didn't wanna fool with it anymore anyhow.
