From the sound of it, your radio was programmed with RSS 9.0.3(or CPS 1.0.3. RSS 9.0.4(or CPS 1.0.4) from what I was told, just came out within the last month. My guess is the R09.03.00 was most likely used to program that radio.
Seeing as your radio was written to with RSS 9.0.3, there is no way of going back to RSS 9.0.2 without having a valid codeplug from your radio when RSS 9.0.2 was used to program the radio. If you have this earlier RSS codeplug, the RSS LAB 3.04 (not sure is 3.04 is correct) you might be able to program the radio with LAB, then 9.0.2 should work. BE VERY CAREFULL WITH LAB, PLEASE!
Once the radio is written with a later version os RSS, there is no real way (or safe way) of going back to a previous RSS version without having an earlier codeplug & LAB software.
CPS/RSS compadibility versions
RSS R09.00.00 is compadible with CPS 01.00.00
RSS R09.01.00 is compadible with CPS 01.01.00
RSS R09.02.00 is compadible with CPS 01.02.00
RSS R09.03.00 is compadible with CPS 01.03.00
RSS R09.04.00 is compadible with CPS 01.04.00
You'll need an exact FLASHPORT flash code for the older codeplug, unless you have LAB, and even with LAB, its still risky to load codeplugs with different FLASHPORTS than the radio has. If the different code plug (with different flash) is used, it (the flash) should be very very close to the original in your radio.
Batlabs website has the info you need IF you have an older codeplug AND LAB RSS. Unfortunally LAB RSS is motorola corportate use only, and is not sold to the public (its too powerfull and can do stuff your not supposed to be able to do

).
All radio have internal serial numbers on the EEPROM. The codeplug needs to be the same serial number as the radio your programming. If the codeplug has a different serial number than the radio being programmed, the radio will have to be cloned - not programmed.
Cloning is done in LAB - not CPS/RSS
As it stands right now, you DO NOT have a paperweight. Please don't do something dumb to the radio. I recommend you get the right RSS, that way you are assured everything will go as expected.
I hope this explains what is going on with your radio Johngo1.
Good luck
