EEPROM question

Post by AngelFire_91 »

Well.

After much time, I'm back! Yep that's right almost 4 years, 1 new Fiance, 1 Career change, and a dog later, I'm back. It's been about 3 yrs and 8 months since my last post on the boards and have no fear I'm still playing with radio's. I've just been too busy the past couple of years to play too much. But I'm back, and now I have a question.

I was courious if anyone had played with the EEPROMS in ASTRO equipment, more specifically the XTS3k's, removed them from the controller board and read them/modified them with a prom burner to change the flashcode/feature set? I have an XTS3k that is no longer good to me since the Dept. I worked for has gone 9600APCO25 and it's only flashed with 3600. I could probably go back to the radio shop I used to work in and get someone to re-flash it for me. but what is the fun in that? I figure it's a perfect test subject to play with. I'm just courious if anyone has tried to read the Proms and figure out the Flash location or meaning behind the madness?

Thanks

P.S. With me being back, be on the lookout for me selling some of my old inventory. I'll probably have a good lineup of some older stuff (HT1000's, MTX's, Spectra's, Service Monitor, Many many parts and pieces). I'll be selling some stuff so I can get the money to play with newer stuff.

Yeah they just switched to PhPbb when I left.

I've read some stuff around but wasn't sure if people had found the actual Byte locations and such for where the flash was stored?

just get firmware that supports 9600 control channels into that radio and copy a prom from a radio that has 9600 if you don't have access to lab. otherwise, the firmware just needs to be downgraded to around host version 6.
