XTS3000 Strange Behavior with Commander SP

Post by Fuel4300 »

I have an XTS3000 M 2 with firmware version:

R07.25.00
N08.03.03

and when I connect my commander speaker mic it acts as if i pressed the top right menu button of the radio and puts me in to scan list program mode. It does the same thing if I turn the radio on with the mic attatched.

Also, with the mic attatched if I press either of the volume buttons it also puts it into scan program mode.

This mic works fine on my XTS5000 and has worked in another XTS3000 I had once upon a time.

This problem has always occurred with this radio and I had assumed it was a firmware issue because the radio had an older R05.xx.xx version but it has persisted even after I had my firmware upgraded.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

I should also add that this radio is totally legitimate so the typical "Nick" bugs don’t apply this time. 8)

I was leaning towards a flex, but I wonder if the case or some debris got inside and it keeping the button engaged....?

Or, just a bad controller in there... Since it does it with/without the commander mic, I would clean out the case and look at the keypad pad.

I'm sorry, I should clarify:

It only does it with the mic attatched. It does not matter if I attatch it with the radio powered up or if I turn the radio off, attatch the mic, and then turn it back on.

Also, once I hit the home key to get out of the program menu, if I press either of the volume buttons it puts me back into program.

Thanks,

Just to check it, put the radio into test mode "CH" and then attach the mic. Hit all the buttons on the commander mic and report back what functions it states it is doing. I'll compare it to mine.

On the Mic:
Orange Button: 3
Rotary: 4
(+): 133
(-): 133
PTT: 1
Side Button 1: 97
Side Button 2: 98

Now for the Radio Itself:
Volume Knob: 2
Orange Button: 3
Rotary: 4
PTT: 1
Side Button 1: 97
Side Button 2: 98
Purple: 96
Concentic: 65
ABC: 67
KP TL: 131
KP TC: 132
KP TR: 133
KP BL: 128
KP BC: 129
KP BR: 130

Which makes sense that the top right key pad button and both volume buttons on the mic are showing the same thing but I have no clue how to change that.

Thanks again,

My plus and minus volume control on the mic shows 104. Everything else is the same. Since you say the mic worked on other radios I am going to say it is a radio problem. Your radio just doesnt like that mic. Im curious if your radio is a A or B version? Perhaps that has something to do with it?

Maybe something with the flex cable inside the radio is messed up. If you can try a different housing with a flex cable already inside it.

My radio is an A version which might be the problem. Unfortunately, the only other flex and case I have is a B version so I am out of luck for now.

Do the A and B versions have a different controller or is it jus the flex connection thats different?

Thanks a lot,

Ok here is the deal, I have VHF XTS3000 H09KDF9PW7BN, ser. 326ABWxxx, firmware 07.06.01.00, DSP N07.03.19, flash 100008-000000-0.

with any RSM EXECPT RMN5023B Commander, it works great. put on the Commander and everything execpt PTT works. when I key up, the radio keys up for a second then dekeys.

When put in CH test mode i get the following

hook up mic and flash's 4/0 and 104/0 briefly
orange button 3
rotary 4
side button 1 97
side button 2 98
ptt 1 (switchs to 1/0 right away even if still holding ptt then flashs 4/0 then 104/0)
volume 2 - then goes right to 104

i have verifed that this is a good new mic

any one please!!!! help

Wouldn't hurt to try a host/dsp upgrade I guess.

Oh and have you tried the same mic on another radio to see if it works or not?

I'd say your radio has a problem, if host/dsp upgrade doesn't solve it , then its a hardware issue with the radio itself.

hello all
i have two XTS3000

first VHF XTS3000 H09KDH9PW7BN, ser. 326ABSxxxx, firmware 07.25.00, DSP N08.03.03, flash 500008-000000-1.
second UHF XTS3000 H09RDH9PW7BN, ser. 326CCYxxxx, firmware 07.09.02, DSP N08.02.04, flash 500008-000000-1.

when i use the commander speaker mic on the vhf it doesn't work well, on the uhf it's OK
in service menu the radio display, when i pressed volume button, 133 on the vhf, and 104 on uhf
133 is the same code as the third botton (right) on the buttom keybord so sometime it is a progammed fonction.
it isn't the host because the host level on my uhf is less my vhf

The differente is on the controller board who the flex is pluged, the uhf is the small connector, the vhf is the largest 41 plugs connector... look pics

http://mapage.noos.fr/f1uot/small_connector.JPG
http://mapage.noos.fr/f1uot/large_connector.JPG

change the controller and the houssing with good flex...whatelse after...

well I prefere use my commander microphone without use volume on it

best regards
Olivier
