XTS-5000 ADP and DES question

Post by radioinstl »

I have a XTS5000 that has software ADP in it. It now also has a UCM with DES-XL/DES-OFB. it also has multi key. is there any way i can use both the ADP and the DES or does it have to be one or the other??

You can use hardware or software, but not both at the same time. It's all basically controlled by the codeplug's "secure hardware equipped" setting. If set, you can use the UCM. If not set, you can use ADP.

I am pretty sure you can have a UCM flashed for ADP. With that in mind, you could then run ADP as it uses the secure module to process that data, just like it would DES-XL/OFB. While I'm not sure, I believe with the UCM flavor of ADP, you need a KVL 3000 to feed it a key. You can not use the CPS like you can for software based ADP.

not quite. I have a xtl with a ADP UCM that does not need a KVL. it is flashed for software ADP. I have a 2nd xtl that has a ADP UCM and is not flashed for software ADP and needs a KVL. looks like I need to find 2 UCMs with DES XL / DES OFB / ADP

If you tick secure hardware equipped AND tick ADP then you can't use the UCM. The keys you enter in the CPS go into the DSP not the UCM. The UCM is not used but will still show up in the self test.

I have a 2nd xtl that has a ADP UCM and is not flashed for software ADP and needs a KVL.
Yes - that's what you would expect.

As I said Akardam and Alex are both correct.
