XTS5000 Battery icon (IMPRES)

Post by Rayjk110 »

I'm using an Impres battery NNTN4436 D/C of 436 on one of my XTS5000's.

When I turn off my 5k, the battery gauge is still on the display - yes, even after I turn the radio off. The only way to get it off is to take the battery off.

Ideas/Suggestions? I thought I read about this somewhere before but didn't see anything in search results.

Edit: I should add that this only happens sometimes; not always.

Send it off to Motorola........you have a problem......

In fact, you could probably walk it over from where you are at....

I had the same problem along with some other querky issues...

The battery icon would remain after turning of the radio, when changing modes or secure rx/tx the channel line would disappear, the radio would randomly restart, etc.

All were fixed when the firmware in both the radio and the secure module were updated to the latest. I attributed it to a mismatch in the secure firmware and that of the radio.

Firmware does sound like a good place to start.......

Also, what's the flash........might not want to upgrade the firmware too much......

It's 5800080004824, DSP9.0 Rev9.00 - No UCM in this particular radio.

Tags match the radio - it's legit. I noticed that this only happened when the impres battery had not been charged in a while, and when it was charged in a non-impres charger it did this also. After I put it in the impres, I haven't seen it since....

Also, the "menue" would freeze up - it would act as if you turned keypad lock on. Every button press on the front of the radio would result in a "boop" tone - but this would only last 10 secods or so at a time untill normal operation resumed. This only happened when I was scrolling thru menu items really fast - mebey it locked up the proc.? Not sure...

Everything seems fine now, tho.

Just confirmed that this is happening to another freind of mine's XTS5k that also happens to have a Rev9/DSP9 firmware set.

I'm beginning to think that this is a 9.00.00 bug......

Thanks, I was suspecting it was just a buggy FW release.

I'll report the results tomorrow morning when it's up to 9.00.05...... so far that's the latest release - so if it's corrected at x.03 it should be corrected at x.05, which is supposedly the latest.

I just bumped 9.00.05 into my radio this morning - and so far it seems to have corrected the problem. Hasn't shown any of those annoying symptoms as of yet.....

09.00.05 seems very stable with very few bugs i can think of. Only bug I have to check for is the talkaround while in scan using the A/B/C switch, where talkaround
is on the C position. I got pissed off, I put talkaround to a softkey, and put PL disable on C for now until I can verify if they fixed it (doubtful).

No it doesn't!! I've got the following:

Host: R09.00.03
DSP: R09.00.02
KG1: 05.05.02

I get the same thing. Also, If you push any buttons, you'll get the dummy tone & it will drain your battery if it isn't reset by pulling the battery & reinstall.
