I have an HT1250 that came to me with ver 1.0 firmware that I wanted to upgrade. After seeing several posts indicating that you can't go directly to latest but must first lift to 2.0, I looked for 2.0 on MOL. Not finding it, I called product support to try to get it. I was told that they never heard of such a problem and it should work no matter what was currently in the portable. So, with fingers crossed and holding breath, I tried and it worked with no trouble. So my question is did I just get lucky or is this a myth?
Has anyone on the board actually had first hand experience with it not working?

Re: HT1250 firmware upgrade
Actually most post are correct the highest you coul actually go up to is R05.07B, from R01.00.00. Then go up to current R05.13.04. Silly, but true. Now for Motorola actually recognizing something it's a hit or miss.
Re: HT1250 firmware upgrade
I just went through the same issue two weeks ago. An HT1250 I got had R01.00.01.
I went to firmware version R03.01.02 with no problem. Then I bumped it to R05.13.04 and it worked great.
The hard part is finding the firmware. In the day of old, when /\/\ send out CD's with new CPS versions, they also included firmware on the CD's. I rummaged through some old CD's and found one from 2002 that has R03.01.02 on it! See if you can get your hands on an older CD. If you cannot find an older version, let me know. If you want to cover shipping, I'll update it for you.

Re: HT1250 firmware upgrade
Thanks for the replies. I have already upgraded to 5.09.11 in one step which is why I questioned the statements made here in the past. BTW, before someone else says it, I know there are more current versions of firmware available. That is the version that was available on that computer so I used it in an attempt that I figured would fail anyway.

Re: HT1250 firmware upgrade
They used to release two versions of the upgrade software everytime...one for radios with 1.xx.xx firmware, and one for 2.xx.xx or greater firmware. They stopped doing this sometime around the 5.00.09 release. I never read any sort of SRN from Motorola detailing why...I just assumed they were tired of writing two pieces of code for every release. It would appear they managed to combine it in the later packages & can now upgrade from any version. I kept my 1.xx.xx compatible version of 5.00.03 just to be safe.

Re: HT1250 firmware upgrade
That could explain it since I only recently got into the upgrade part of programming. The 5.09.11 version was the first one I downloaded back when it was new. So this may not be a myth after all but something that no longer applies. Thanks for the info.wavetar wrote:They used to release two versions of the upgrade software everytime...one for radios with 1.xx.xx firmware, and one for 2.xx.xx or greater firmware.
