Problems programming radio, and other ?'s I got DSP now
I got my Astro here is the specs from the RSS that the compnay i went to to program gave me
Model Number...................H04KDH9PW7AN
Software Option...................................H35
Serial Number
Radio Software Version...........02.02.XX.XX
DSP Software Version............Not Availiable with .. - I03.04.03
Radio Codeplug Version......................000C
Programmed Date....................0209171135
Program Source..................................RSS
Codeplug Size (bytes).......................12861
FLASHcode.........................8000010000002
**and everything else matches as far as model and serial**
now for the probelm. I am unable to get user programable scan to work, I get the add del button but they are inactive. the tech couldnt get it to work. what could be wrong?
also they could program a scan list in but it only works for zone 1 as soon as i switch to a dift zone no scan (which i gues he just programmed it for zone 1)
how or why not can I get the user programable scan to work
there are also 166 conventional channels programmed into the radio into 11 zones
and what options are in the flash code?

Options Installed on this Flashcode: 800001 - 000000 - 2
H15/H44 H15 is Astro Data / H44 is VRM500 for MCS2000 only
H35/G48 Conventional Operation
Looks like a real plane jane radio. Really cannot tell you much about the scanning. Looks like the scanlists were not programmed correctly. This is what happened to my radio all the scan members were jumbled throughout the radios scanlists. The sel and del buttons did not work correctly. When the scanlists were fixed they worked perfectly.

From what you posted, its the radio firmware. What would concern me, is that you did not get a report from the DSP. The radio powers up without a fail code, correct?
I sent M an upgrade repair request for the lastest HOSP/DSP, and I got back a price of around $1000.
From what I understand, though, if you get a FLASHport upgrade that requires a higher firmware verison thats in your radio, the flash upgrade will update the radio's firmware (like upgrading a computer BIOS).
Still, in anycase, with nothing showing on the DSP verison, that would concern me.

When you turn on the radio, press the .. or ... (cant remember which one) side key 5 times during self check, and see if the info on the screen matches the radio case. should show model, serial numbers, host, dsp, flashcode and memory.

Wow! You have old firmware. I haven't seen that since the early 90's. I wouldn't be surprised if the User Programmable Scan Lists feature was available then. Keep in mind that 2.02 was one of the first Astro firmware releases, if not the first one.
In any case, the firmware is VSELP (not APCO-25 IMBE) and if you want to upgrade it, you cannot do it with a Flashport upgrade. You will need to change the vocoder as well. When M went from R2.x.x to R3.x.x, they changed the vocoder. If you want to be certain about this, open up the radio, take digital pics of both sides of the vocoder and send them to me. I will tell you for sure then.
