Got new version R02.00.00

Post by wiliki46 »

Yesterday, I picked up the newest software for the Astro Saber and XTS etc. It also came with the DOS version R09.05.00. The disks were dated 9 Sept 2002. The papers included said that the DOS version would be disconinued. But if you order RVN4184 you get the CPS and DOS versions of the software. So you can still get the DOS version if you still like DOS. I like Windows. Anyway should I update my codeplug or just leave it as is? My ASIII works the way I want it to work. Do not see any reason to do any updating. Thanks for your help.

Read the readme file on the disk. If they have fixed a bug for a feature you use, then update it. If you don't need it, then leave it in the nice box it came in, and file it away.

I agree. 99% of the time, the fixes from one RSS/CPS version to another fix flaws in the software, not in the radio. I work for an MSS, and I only load the latest software when I have to, in order to program new & depot repaired radios. Otherwise, you're messing with a good thing.
