I dont think they work on 2500s, I tried to use a commander 1 mic on a 2500 a couple of years ago with no luck. Our M govt rep said they are not compatible.

Pretty sure that Commander series speaker mics don't work on the XTS2500.

correct, you need the GPS mic if you want "commandering" on the 2500s..

Just so you guys know - the reason behind this is Motorola (in their infinite wisdom) decided it was a good idea to change the pin position for the data pin that the Microphones communicate with the radio on.

This is why you can't use the fancy speaker mics on the 2500 series radios.

Any chance of reconfiguring that pinout, or is it a different "language" altogether? Just my own curiosity, and it might help the OP put his already owned equipment to good use. Not saying that he'd want to modify, but somebody out there might.

I thought about that - I may try and look up the connector pinouts in the service manual, but the problem is that everything is flex based in the 2500/5000 series making it not so easy to just move the pin around.

It's something that probably could be done without too much trouble, however, there goes your IS rating and warranty. It would be a "Hobbiest" fix and not a public safety grade fix that could get messed up at a time that you need it type thing...

The Commander Mic that has the volume control and Emergency Button works fine on the 2500.

Are you trying to use the version with the channel selector?

If it doesn't work on the XTS2500, then of course it won't work on a PR1500..

The PR1500, MT1500, XTS1500, and XTS2500 are all the same radio.. If it doesn't work on one, it won't work on all..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
