xts3000 vselp
Hello everyone!
I recently bought an xts3000, and had my radio guy program it to monitor a vselp system. I noticed the other day that while in scan mode the radio will jump from channel to channel, but there is no voice. I am able to key up and I hear the "beep beep" noise. Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've never seen an XTS3k that will do VSELP, but that's not to say they don't exist somewhere in the land of ancient firmware. I've only seen Astro Sabers and Astro Spectra radios that could do it.
What it sounds to me is that you've got an IMBE radio, and while in trunking it will follow the control channel and go to the voice channel, it doesn't know what to do with the VSELP data stream, but may interpret it as error-filled IMBE and therefore not go back immediately to the control channel.
Also, if you are not an authorized user, which it sounds like you are not... otherwise the programmer would know if your radio could be used on the system or not, I'd be very wary of ever keying up.

I have not seen one, but somewhere I have a Motorola PDF that listed it as an option when it first came out. I think it was as short lived as the 512k 3000's.
What is the host/dsp/flashcode?

Sounds like he's trying to monitor the Cleveland, Ohio system. That's the only VSELP system left in existence that I know of.

Yeah, and it comes in pretty good across the lake sometimes on my ancient Astro Saber.caprice96 wrote:Sounds like he's trying to monitor the Cleveland, Ohio system. That's the only VSELP system left in existence that I know of.

I can confirm that they do indeed exist.Pj wrote:I have not seen one, but somewhere I have a Motorola PDF that listed it as an option when it first came out. I think it was as short lived as the 512k 3000's.
I recently upgraded such a unit to IMBE since the demand for VSELP is long gone.
I'd guess he's got an IMBE radio which doesn't work too well with VSELP. The giveaway was the "recently purchased" line.
If he keeps keying up to test, it won't be long before he's got a radio that does neither VSELP or IMBE.

Trenton NJ still runs VSELP and Analogcaprice96 wrote:Sounds like he's trying to monitor the Cleveland, Ohio system. That's the only VSELP system left in existence that I know of.
