Help upgrading an XPR4500

Post by Forts »

I'm hoping someone can give me a hand here. I have an XPR4500 (Model M27JQH9JA1AN) that I want to update the firmware on. According to MOL the update package will update firmware R01.01.03 - R01.04.03 to R01.05.00. I have the appropriate file for my radio but selecting the Update option in the Device menu results in an error message #2390 (doesn't say what this means). The only thing that jumps out at me is that the current firmware in this radio is D01.20.19 (this radio came from Ebay via Hong Kong). Is it reasonable that's why I am getting the error as the current firmware isn't within the R01.01.03/R01.04.03 range? The radio works great and reads/writes just fine using CPS v4 (no region issues).

If anyone has any tips, they would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you got something with development firmware in it - at least that's what the "D" usually stands for.

Super. I'm sure that will be easy to upgrade  Thanks for the tip though!

I just noticed another radio for sale on Ebay that has the D01.xx.xx firmware. Anyone have any info on these or how to switch them over to R01.xx.xx firmware?

What radios do you own?: Over 50 - All Motorola

Try a 'recovery' option.

Otherwise, you are hosed. Developmental firmware is not supposed to leave the hands of the 'developers'.

Sounds like something fell off the shredder truck.....

No dice I'm afraid. It gives me the same error that trying to perform an upgrade does. Thanks for the suggestion though.

In this case I think the "D" stands for D'oh
