Motorola Coaxial Cable Assembly - what's coax used?

Hi all!

I have a lot of Motorola Coaxial Cable Assemblies, P/N HKN9088B:



They have PL-259 and miniUHF connectors factory installed and built from coaxial cable with white slippery jacket.

Cable reminds RG-58 waveguide size, but outer jacket has smaller diameter - 0.1595" (4.05 mm).

Anybody knows exact cable name (e.g. Belden XXXX) or waveguide size (something like RG-xxx)?

I think that it is a Teflon jacket, but I don't have any info on a source. Sorry.

Looks like it is RG-303

Looks like the 800/900 white jacketed silver plated shield and silver plated stranded center conductor cable used on 800/900 Motorola mobile antennas.

Not really Teflon outer jacket, but considered low loss at the time, 1988...

The cable that you asked about is not RG142. The white Motorola cable is a single shield cable and smaller outside diameter (0.170" OD).

RG142 is double shield and has a 0.195" OD

RG-142 is commonly used cable as interconnect for the back of quantars, duplexer jumpers, and test cables. It has a brown translucent jacket, and is double shielded. I always refer to it as "mil-spec" when we talk about it at the shop. Great stuff.

Ok, guys. I jsut found specs on this connector and it's designed for RG-142 and RG-400.

That Moto "Low Loss" (as described in the Buyers Guide pages) cable is manufactured exclusively for Motorola for their mobile antennae and Fixed Mobile Station kits. You will never find that exact stuff anywhere else.
They used to sell it by the foot: 3082921H01. No longer but you can still get the cable in kits and assemblies.

And MOL calls this particular kit "HKN9088B Control Station Accessory, Adapter Cable". Funny thought that anyone would consider a PL259 of any manufacture "low-loss".

RG142 has a solid center conductor. The stuff M uses in repeater cabinets is RG400 and it has a stranded center conductor. Functionally they're the same thing except 400 is more flexible, obviously. Either one is suitable (and recommended) for service monitor test lead use.
