Well, 754 is a standard DPL code.
Try 116 INVERTED, works out to the same 754.

Go back and read the help screens in the Systems Saber RSS on DPL more carefully. The Systems Saber has some unusual limitations on the DPL codes it will process, which the help screens discuss in some detail. As a guess, this has something to do with memory partitioning.

Saber DPL..still no luck

Post by Chad427 »

Thanks to all that replied..Still no luck, thought that the 116 inverted would do it, however no way to invert it in my saber. Most other radios we have has an option to invert but not the systems?? Not sure what to do now..If anyone has any more help..I would appreciate it. Thanks

Systems Saber DPL

Post by craig »

Charlie,

I just went thorugh this as well. Are you using the SP DPL feature? I needed a DPL of 612 and anything over 600 (I think without looking) is considered an SP DPL (Meaning special DPL) IN order to use this fucntion, none of the channels in your radio can be using the TPL squelch of 118.?. Once the radio sees that none of the channels are using the TPL of 118.? then the radio will allow you to see all of the DPLs (YOu must use the arrow keys to see them, don't try to type the DPL directly in. Once you select a SP DPL (One over 600) then the radio will not let you use the TPL of 118.? at all! You are only allowed to have 1 SP DPL so if it is 754 for you, then that will be the only SP DPL that you can use on any channel in the whole radio. It seems that your SP DPL takes the place of TPL 118.?. This has got to be the most stupid thing I have ever seen. DPL is becoming more prevelant in my area and I can see myself having to sell my radio and get a new one due to this problem.

Hope this helps.

Just tried it

Well right now my radio isn't reading, BUT

I tried using my saved data file

I was able to stick in the 754 dpl, I also have 118.8 in my selectable pl-but not in any specific channel

this was on a system saber 3 w/des xl if that helps

I believe that you may not have 118.8 in the MPL table, either. From the manual: "If you are currently using TPL `2B' anywhere in your radio, the SP DPLs will not be available for selection."

DPL 754...IT WORKED...KINDA

Post by Chad427 »

To all that helped..it worked after I took out the 118.8 pl...I was able to put the DPL in...However, It is not working on talkaround..It is opening repeater...but not coming up on talkaround...Hear it on non PL radios and scanner...If anyone would like to take a stab at that one, please feel free. Thanks to everyone who offered help.

First hint: is the channel using that DPL on "repeat" a split-tone or split-format channel (i.e., input tone and output tone are different)? In theory, the "repeat/direct" button is supposed to grab the Rx Freq and the Rx Tone for transmit -- and that is precisely how it operates on more modern radios (like MT2000) -- but on Systems Sabers it grabs only the Rx Freq and continues to use the Tx Tone. This harkens back to the days when no one used split-tones or split-formats. The solution is to give up the "repeat/direct" button for this channel and program a separate channel for "direct."

Second hint: I have found that many Systems Sabers are inverted in their DPLs. As an experiment, program your simplex channel in the other radio with DPL inverted and see if it works. If so, they what you're going to have do the same thing: instead of using the "repeat/direct" button, you're going to have to program a separate "direct" frequency and experiment with using bit-inverted DPLs.

As I said, the experiences I have with these problems have been with Systems Sabers, not "plain" Sabers, but the advice may hold for them, too.
