MDC on XTS and Astro Saber
Need some help, I am trying to get an XTS 3000 and an Astro Saber to display text names on MDC decode. Also how do I get them to display the text Messages and Status Messages? I am using Astro CPS to program them. Thanks!

You can quit trying. Alias ID display? No way...no text.
If H14 is in your flash code - Astro Saber & XTS 3000 will display a number only. Without H14 in the flash they won't even display the #.

The XTS and Astro Saber can initiate status and/or message transmissions. You can program a list of alias names to be displayed on the radio when the user is selecting which # to send.
For example when you select status 1 - the display could say "ARRIVED".
What a status number means is completely arbitrary. Your names would obviously be chosen to match the names programmed in the receiving device at the fixed end (like a CCII console).
If you were expecting the radio to DECODE status/message - you can forget that too. These radios are not the top of the MDC food chain. You get more MDC capability in a lower tier product like the Pro series CDM/HT750/1250/1550.
Don't ask me to explain why a $5000 radio can't do things that come on a $500 radio - were are talking about Motorola here - logic has nothing to do whith it.
