Is anyone using the Motorola Spectra Mobile 15-pin Programming Cable available from RFguys with a medium power VHF Spectra? Information from mfg.: It's a programming cable for Motorola VHF/UHF Spectra low / medium power and Astro Digital mobile radios. Connects directly to PC serial port, no RIB box or adapter required! Quality, Professonal-Grade replacement for Motorola RIB box and programming cable combination.

Unlike most other cables, no RIB (Radio Interface Box), batteries or 25-pin adapter is required, this connects directly to PC or laptop.
This cable has a unique proprietary RIB chip built into the connector shell.

I'm not sure if its "proprietary RIB chip built into the connector shell" works as well as a traditional RIB.
