IWCE 2015 in Las Vegas - March 16-20
New thread for this year's expo.
International Wireless Communications Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Exhibit Hall open March 18-19 (Wednesday/Thursday)
Hall passes are FREE thru the end of the month using the code EREG1 when you register at www.iwceexpo.com
Fly in to LAS, most hotels like the Mardi Gras (which is steps down the street from the convention center) have free shuttles to and from the airport - no need to rent a car (parking is next to impossible to find).
Those that are going and those that have gone, tips on where to hit up first, classes to take, places to eat & drink, meet ups, etc?

I am going. ( I go every year )
We stay at Flamingo and take the monorail.
If you want to stay on the "Strip" the monorail gets you to the convention center in just a few minutes, and I think it is like $28 bucks for unlimited three day pass.
Pick a place on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard the walk to the monorail stops is just a few minutes.
MGM, Bally's, Flamingo and Harrah's have the stops almost in the property.

Do you typically take a shuttle from the airport to the Flamingo or a taxi or rent a car? It appears the monorail doesn't extend out to LAS yet.
Re: IWCE 2015 in Las Vegas - March 16-20
I live in Sparks, NV so we just drive down.
You pretty much have to take taxi's to get to the hotels, or rent a car. Maybe share a rental with friends.
Yeah, it is idiotic that the monorail doesn't go to the airport.
As far as I know, they did that on purpose.
The taxi and rental car lobby is too strong, they don't want the competition.
I kinda doubt they will ever extend it to the airport.
When we have had a reason to fly there, we have used the taxi or shuttle method.

From what I can see, having been to Lost Wages a few times, the purpose of the monorail is to take gamblers from one casino to another, without all that mucking about rubbing shoulders with the residents. If where you want to go isn't a casino, the monorail doesn't go there (the LV convention hall being the sole exemption).
This is my opinion, not Aeroflex's.
I WILL NOT give you proprietary information. I make too much money to jeopardize my job.
I AM NOT the Service department: You want official info, manuals, service info, parts, calibration, etc., contact Aeroflex directly, please.

Yeah, the thing was poorly done in my opinion too.
Should start at the airport for sure.
And they should add a stop by the Wynn employee garage, just to make Wynn, TI, Fashion Mall, and the Sand's convention center more accessible. And maybe extend to Fremont.
But, having been there MANY times, it does work well to go from the hotel casinos that "back" on it down to the LV convention center.
Way better than trying to drive and pay to park or waiting for a shuttle bus.
They are misleading about which places are "close" to the monorail.
Staying out along the monorail somewhere sure increases the eating options for breakfast and dinner compared to the hotels close to the convention center.
Depends on what ya' need to do. If you have to work a booth every single day, then staying close might be better.
But, for me, grabbing a coffee and a snack, then catching the monorail to the conventions works really well.
From Bally's, Flamingo or Harrah's ( these are where I usually stay ) to the convention center is about 15 min from my hotel room door.
That works pretty good for me.

You guys that are going will have to be the eyes and ears for those of us that can't go.
Be sure to stop by Motorola and look at the new APX8000 V-U-7-800.
Since it's the same size as a 6000 you would have to believe that it only has one RF board, not two like the 7000.
That pretty much has to mean that it's fully software defined at the RF level.

I appear to be going alone this year as my two partners from the local area ended up having to cancel at the last minute...xmo wrote:You guys that are going will have to be the eyes and ears for those of us that can't go.

Do the vendors typically allow detailed product photography or are they more hands off?
Re: IWCE 2015 in Las Vegas - March 16-20
You will probably be able to get pictures. Hell you'd probably be able to lift one with a 5 finger discount if nobody is looking..........

The official policy of IWCE is no photography on the Show floor. Most vendors are cool if you are polite and ask.
