Astro Chirp Wanted

Ever watch cops when they show the LAPD shows? You know, everytime they key up the radio, it makes some funky chirp??? Yea, that's what I am talking about...can anyone explain what exactly that is, is it like a data burst, similar to the MDC chirp? Is it only in astro radios? Does anyone have a soundfile of it? Thanks a bunch!

It's called MODAT. It has been talked about extensively here. Do a search for it and you should get hundreds of hits. I think there are some wave files of it around too.
