Astro Spectra Simple ?'s about plugs

Post by hvacesu78 »

Ok Basic Help needed... here..

Astro Spectra, trunk mount w/ W9 Head.
Reference Picture..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 1947478954

Front of 'radio' has 2) 25 pin ports,
1 "Control Unit" and 1 Blank..
Where does W9 head go ? Does it matter?

Whats up with the tiny looking Mic port above "control unit" port?

15pin on rear.. got it.. Programming..etc..

Would appreciate a crash course.. since the service man. still on the way ! :-?
thanks ! Happy New Year :D

John,

Control head goes to the connector labeled "Control Unit", the connector on the left of the trunk unit as you look at it. The connector on the right is for a VRS unit, or a Siren/PA unit. Should have a "dust cover" on it.

The mic-connector looking thing is for programming DES if the radio is so equipped.

Hope this helps.

Jack..
Sweeet !
Hmm now ok.. which leads me to another ?.... :-?

Why would W9 head plugged into Control Unit Port produce an Fail 01/90 Code? (Flickers/ No 'Self Test')

Seems to work ok in the "unlabled" Port... (Powers up, Self Test-On)

Ideas?
John
