Astro Spectra VHF w/W3 head

Post by jcobb »

I have a late model Astro Spectra VHF 110w with the W3 hand held control head.

How can I change to the W9 head? Do I need a vocon, or just change the head type in the RSS?

I know in the earlier versions of Spectra that the A3 hand held head set up didn't have the data in the MLM to support any other type of head - was hoping that this wasn't the case for the Astro.

I really don't want to use the HHCH, even though it works just fine.

Any help/info would be appreciated!

Your best bet is getting someone to do a trade for what you want.

You'd have to do some serious hacking to get it to work. NOTHING like the normal spectra's.

What radios do you own?: 5100/5300-TP9100 VHF&7/800

Here Is What You Need To Switch Out The Head:

W9 Interconnect Board For High Power Radio,
Remote Cable For W9 Head, W9 Controle Head & Mic

And Most Importantly A W9 S-record to Dump Into Target Radio.

Thats what I did.....
