Maxtrac frequency Question
Hi There,
I tried the shift method, but I’m not able to enter a 151.2275 receive freq.
Should I enter something different?

I do not believe that radios from that era can handle NB channel spacing. The next generation like the Waris and Commercial series will do NB just fine.jmueller0823 wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 11:04 am Hi There,

Can mods be applied (to the RSS?) to enable NB frequency entry? Thanks.

When I said that those radios can not handle NB, it means that the radio’s circuitry is not designed for NB. Thus a kludge to the RSS is not possible.jmueller0823 wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 8:39 pm Oh, got it: Narrow Band.

Update -- I omitted one bit of information: This radio is used for receive only.
I found the following and will be programming the frequency in question with a +5kHz or -5kHz

If your scanner only tunes 5 kHz steps you can still receive the 7.5 kHz spaced channels. Simply program the next higher or lower 5 kHz channel. If for example you want to listen to 155.7525 you would program 155.7500 or 155.7550. Most scanners automatically round off to the nearest acceptable frequency for their synthesizer step size and scanner selectivity is wide enough that you can receive frequencies 2.5 to 5 kHz off with little or no noticeable difference.

Well … looks like the Maxtrac will not accept either a +5 or -5 kHz adjusted frequency, the wiki workaround, above.

the synthesizer is not designed for those frequency steps on most bands

Thanks. Looks like I’m out of luck; usually the ‘shift mehod solves that problem.
BTW, per the RadioReference wiki (referenced above) I did try adjusting the problem frequency -5kHz to …
151.23500

The radio reference Wiki was for "scanners" that do 5 kHz steps. Also scanners have sloppy selectivity so 2.5 kHz off is not too bad but the Maxtrac would probably not like it even if you could enter the 5 kHz frequency.
The "shift" works for out of band frequencies but it can't make the radio do frequency steps it was not designed for.
