XTS WITH A SPEAKER MIC

Post by CHEFA2001 »

When I hook up a speaker mic to it, instead of the MDC transmit tones, I hear a funky combination of beep-boops. is this a f/w issue or a HHCH or programmign issue?

Also, I think but am not sure yet, that the mic lessens the range of TX and repeater hitting ability of the radio...

Anyone??

Come on, I seem to recall some sort of discussion relating to this in the past, but I was unable to locate the thread when I did a search. Anyone have any information on this???

I have no info for your beeping problem, but the addition of a regular (non-public safety) speaker mic in itself will not affect your range. You may find your range varies when the radio is sitting on your hip while using the speaker mic as opposed to holding the radio up by your head without it, but no change otherwise.

Actually I just noticed you said it was an HHCH, do they have an antenna on them like the P.S. mics? If so, then I've found they can degrade your range, depending on what band you're using.

HHCH

Hey Todd, it's a normal NMN6193B mic, and for example, when I key up on a channel w/ modat i hear an error tone instead of the modat, however the radio IS transmitting the modat and operates fine transmission wise. When I key up on a mode with MDC enabled, I hear what appears to be the first half of the mdc sidetone and then a quick "error" boop, then the remainder of the mdc sidetone.
By the "boop", I mean the same boop you'd hear when hitting an unprogrammed key on an astro radio.

If this is a watchbudy radio - this is a known issue with the firmware version Nick is using.

I emailed a friend in Ill. the codeplug for the radio in question, and about 3 hours later, I recived an email abck stating that he programmed a bench radio with that codeplug and there then he mentioned something about a host mismach and to send it his way. I believe that I still have a favor or two to ask for from him, so I'll try my luck, and report back to the board on how the radio is when it comes back.

I wonder why WatchBUDDY does not flash, or whatever he does to create his c/p's with a simple h38 c/p w/o the software encryption, otar, and the modat :o, as it's completely useless in most instances.

From all the radios I hear about him selling, I would think he's about due to "fix" this issue before he starts getting hassled.

For further reference, I emailed him, asking a certain question and NEVER rec'd. a reply. Granted now, this is only 1 opinion, but to a prospective buyer, I would think a reply was a must.

What a f'n racket he's running.

With this in mind how is Watchbuddy able to use the "Chicago" flash code on so many different models of radios. (i.e. ASIII VHF/UHF's & now XTS3000's VHF/UHF)

Is he using some special RSS package to initialize these radios for the different bands. How is this possible.

I know I'm taking a shoot in the dark, because I realize information such as this is kept on the down low, or only people within the ring of trust know how this is done.

I have been messing with Astro's for about a year now and haven't really learned much.

I've asked some TABOOish type questions which people tend not to respond to, I've even made a plea for a codeplug which went unanswered.

I would really enjoy making some friend here on the board and break my way into the circle of trust, so I can learn some of these cool tricks.

Anywho, I am VERY curious as to how Watchbuudy pulls this off. Some time soon I hope to purchase one of his XTS's (hey you can't beat the price.

Granted, the price is right, however you should save the extra few hundred dollars at the same time, so you can send to the depot and have it taken back to specs. Flashcode/HOST/F-W douche, etc...

tchbuddy radio recovered

Post by CHEFA2001 »

Got my astro radio back from my friend at the depot in Lanham, No more watchbuddyproblems with it. Newest host/dsp, new RF board for some reason, not sure why since I did not know it had a problem. Shipped next day air and had it returned the next day! Glad I did not have to pay the flat rate fees.

Glad to be involved with a federal account holder and also have a friend there
