Xmo, the current R3 mentions an option on the Quantar called "Remote RSS Compatibility." I believe I will neeed this so I can equalize the batteries (and switch back to float) from my office location. Problem is that it says it requires "EPIC SCB." Am I correct in that I need this if I desire to be able to remotely equalize the battery string? And, what is this EPIC SCB thing?
Thanks!

Remote RSS capability is a standard feature of Quantar. Here is what the Planner says about that option:
"Remote RSS(X288) = The Remote RSS option adds password protection to the standard Remote RSS Feature..."
As far as the SCB (Station COntrol Board), there are several different boards that have been used (different part #'s). Originally there was a basic board, then they came out with a smarter board for Smartzone, etc. They called it EPIC. There is also an even smarter version for Intellirepeater stations.
I don't think they ship the original SCB any more. The Planner says there are two boards used - one for Intellirepeater - the other for everything else, so I believe any Quantar ordered today would come with the EPIC SCB.

X288 is now a $200 option (according to Oct -Nov 2002 R3 price book).
I've noticed that several previously standard Quantar features are now added cost options. In other cases, they've jacked up the price of options (like IMBE, which went up an additional $1,750). Can't hardly wait to see the anticipated 2003 general price increases---Motorola has to eat, too!
BTW, there are two features that I don't plan to order, and I hope I'm not making a mistake since these 2 options can't be added later.
These 2 features include: 1) ASTRO Scan (or even Analog scan) and 2) fast key-up.
xmo, is there some case (or a good reason) where I would want either/both of these features?
Thanks for your advice!
